The plushie invasion continues

Two posts in one day? What madness is this? This is me getting really excited by going back through my old pictures and wanting to talk about them, really. So, without further ado, the next plushies!

These two cuties are Kanji Tetsumi and Naoto Shirogane from Persona 4. A couple of my friends were obsessed with this game and its anime, and so they commissioned me to make one for each of them. Having learnt a little from my mistakes with Eridan, they worked out a lot better.

Suspicious Kanji is suspicious of you

I was particularly happy with Kanji's expression. He has the right blend of grumpy and adorable. His hair was a nightmare to do well though! The thing you can see sticking out behind him is the sleeve from his jacket which he doesn't ever wear properly, just drapes over his shoulders, so I sewed it at the shoulders and allowed it to hang free.

Kanji, looking away in hope you'll leave him alone
Kanji from the front - just as adorably grumpy. Also you can see the design on his tshirt better now. Very fiddly to cut out of the felt, but gluing it to the shirt made it look good and was the simplest of available methods.

Naoto would like to know why you are staring at her
And now for Naoto! She is very adorable, although her hair was as much of a nightmare as Kanji's. Her jacket was more complicated too, but it was worth the effort. I thought her cap would be really difficult, but in the end it wasn't too hard and came out really nice!

Kanji is embarrassed by all the praise. Naoto is oblivious to it all
So there we are, two of my best plushies, sitting on a desk, chilling out.

Of fish people and plushie beginnings

Are you sitting comfortably? Then I'll begin! I make things. The variety of these thing that I make is fairly wide. Generally my preference is clothes and costumes, but those take a little while and are more complicated so sometimes I like to relax and make something small. Like a necklace. Or a plush toy. In this blog I will be going through my backlog of things I have made, and then starting on projects currently in development and so on.

Now, I know that out of the corner of your eye you can see a strange looking plushie and want me to stop waffling about myself so you can find out more about what it is. No worries, here we go!

This is Eridan, he is the first plushie I ever made, and you can tell. I didn't have enough black felt to make his head quite the right shape, so his chin is really very weird. He is a character from an online webcomic called Homestuck and despite his weird chin, I am very proud of how he turned out. Instantly recognisable as the character, and actually pretty good.

The trousers were interesting to figure out how to make, but black sharpie on blue cotton worked out very well. As did black sharpie on blue felt for the scarf.  The cloak, which you can't see too well, took two attempts and still isn't perfect. Overall though, not bad for a first ever plushie!
